Mexico City Hotel Merges Spa Lifestyle with Meetings

The spa meetings décor is very zen-like with tables decorated with river stones, lilies and candles. Spa attendants give out warm rose-scented towels and slippers upon entrance into the meeting room. The meeting starts with a good stretch and breathing exercises. Guests are encouraged to take off their shoes and replace them with slippers. Aromatic scents like lavender or cinnamon are infused into the meeting room with diffusers to relax or invigorate, depending on the goal.

Spa attendants are available for massages during breaks. For more in-depth treatments, meeting attendees can continue their relaxation at SPA Marquis with specially developed treatments for overworked travelers such as Carpal Tunnel Hand Massage, Power Point Body Massage and the Jet-Lag Body Treatment. These new treatments offer therapy relief for body tensions caused by repetitive use of technology like cell phones, BlackBerry devices and laptops.

Breakfast with brain power has been selected by the property's executive chef, Ignacio Gutierrez. Foods known for their brain power are offered such as strawberries, kiwis, granola, yogurt, apples, grapes, cantaloupe and bran muffins. Foods rich in iron, B vitamins and antioxidants have been selected to help the brain get plenty of oxygen and energy and get rid of damaging free radicals. For instance, yogurt can improve alertness and memory through the production of tyrosine. Strawberries aid in coordination, concentration and short-term memory.

Meeting planners can choose from the Palacios ballroom or the newer Emperatriz and Emperador ballrooms, which can be adapted to a specific number of attendees. Meeting spaces are decorated with Italian marble, hand-made rugs by Mexican artisans, fine British carpeting and imposing Murano crystal chandeliers from Europe. All rooms feature advanced meeting technology including automated panels for lighting, audio, video and air conditioning control.

SPA Marquis has 11 treatment rooms offering massage, aromatherapy, hydro-therapy, facials and scrubs. Other facilities include separate ladies' and gentlemen's areas, each with its own Jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna; resting area; a panoramic swimming pool; beauty parlor; swiss shower and a fully-equipped fitness center with state-of-the-art cardio and weight training equipment.
