WeatherBug Sends Holiday Wish Lists to Santa at the North Pole

Germantown, MD (Vocus) December 15, 2006 -- WeatherBug®, the leading provider of live, local weather information services, today launched a new video messaging application that extends its user-generated weather reporting capabilities beyond weather. Beginning immediately, users will be able to produce their own holiday wish lists for Santa through the exclusive patent pending youCaster technology available on www.youcaster.com.

With the youCaster holiday wish list application, users can record a personal message via a Web cam or audio device and narrate through a mashup of items including popular toys for kids, North Pole pictures and WeatherBug data and maps. They can either select wish list gifts from a selection on the site or upload their own pictures to simply drag and drop into their video message.

Once the youCaster holiday wish list is posted on WeatherBug.com, users will be able to send a link encouraging friends and family members to view it. They also will receive an acknowledgement video message from Santa via email. Additionally, a select number of users who send a follow-up video with items that Santa missed will also receive a free gift from WeatherBug.

youCaster, a unique mashup Web application that seamlessly combines content from more than one source into an integrated experience, was developed to give users another avenue to get creative by creating and sharing their own weathercast. It recently launched on the new community section of WeatherBug.com.

"In the spirit of the holiday season, we thought we would have a little fun to encourage people to get acquainted with our new tool," said Andy Jedynak, CMO of WeatherBug. "youCaster video messaging is so easy to use, we think it's a great way for people to interact and share in all sorts of ways. So, given that Christmas is around the corner, what better use for youCaster than sending your holiday wish list directly to those who would like to have it, whether it's a grandparent, spouse or even Santa at the North Pole!"

After the holiday season, youCaster video messaging will be available for users to send personal mashup video messages via the Internet accessing multiple channels, including weather. youCaster videos can be linked to an individual's Web site or to MySpace in addition to the community section of WeatherBug.com.

"We want everyone to know, whether they are weather enthusiasts or not, that they can use youCaster to express themselves in a variety of ways," said Michael Rosen, senior vice president and general manager of WeatherBug consumer division. "At the end of the day, WeatherBug is creating another outlet for users to interact with each other --proving once again that we are technology innovators who also happen to provide the best live, local weather data available anywhere to consumers, businesses and government users worldwide."
